Leadership In Action
The Student Government Association at Gaston College has a full student senate for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. We have 14 students on our board : 5 executive board members(President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Parliamentarian) and 9 senators. This is quite an Achievement that we are very proud of. Our student Leaders are very strong, interactive, and eager to be a part of the SGA and make a difference. l am happy to see what we archieve as an organization this year.
A common Issue we noticed amongst our student body was lack of knowledge about our campus events. While every student receives weekly emails from the Department of Student Life, not every student is proficient at checking their emails. To combat this struggle, the Student Government Asoociation restored an old advertisement bulletin on campus. The bulletin is in a heavily trafficked are of campus making it an ideal location to promote upcoming events, campus resources and even observe national and cultural awareness initiatives. Each month, members of the SGA re-design the bulletin to cater to each specific month's calender and cultural significance. This is a wonderful space where students can visually see upcoming events and initiatives.
